We were approached by renowned artists Warren and Nick to be part of a collaborative project, helping to create an iconic cover image and an accompanying launch film for the 2015 Creative Review Annual. They were interested in exploring the abnormalities that scanning can sometimes produce, particularly when capturing complex shapes and textures. The idea was that supermodel Daria Werbowy would rise from and return to the earth, exploring ideas of nature, birth and death. ​
Our BodyRig was set up at London’s Holborn Studios where Daria was gradually wrapped in flowers and foliage. The different poses were captured from 120 different angles and processed into geometry and textures. Once again, the amazing artists at Analog used the resulting library of highly detailed geometry to find the most striking compositions and forms. They explored many materials and shaders, experimenting with animated texture maps and utilising the often abstract colour data from the scanning process to drive refractions and lighting effects.
