Costume FX
FBFX has created some of cinema’s most ambitious costumes - spacesuits, armour and superheroes with functional stunt versions that can withstand the demands of action on set.
Our in-house team combines traditional artistry with advanced technology. From early design iterations and practical prototypes to the precision manufacture of hardware, soft costume and electronics, we provide a complete, end-to-end service.
This multidisciplinary process means every costume is not only visually spectacular but lightweight and durable, tailored to the needs of performers and filmmakers.
Versatility is key. A single costume will require multiple versions - some for close-up detail, others for stunts including flying, underwater scenes, pyrotechnics or complex mechanical effects. Whatever the requirement, our collaborative approach ensures costumes that serve both story and performance.
With one of the most extensive and best-equipped workshops in Europe, FBFX continues to pioneer new techniques, blending innovation with experience to deliver wearable works of art.

Space & Sci-Fi
Having worked extensively in the genre since 1997’s Event Horizon, FBFX has built a reputation in the film industry for producing space and sci-fi costumes. Our costumes are known for attention to detail, with projects including helmets and hardware for Prometheus (2012), The Martian (2015), the Star Wars franchise, Alien Covenant (2017), Fantastic Four (2025), Star Trek: Discovery (2017) and Halo (2022).

Armour
Producing armour has long been one of our strengths. FBFX has created legions of armies and hero costumes, accurate historical pieces, unique fantasy costumes and everything in between. Notable examples include Gladiator (2000 & 2024), Troy (2004), Alexander (2004), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Exodus Gods and Kings (2014), The Last Duel (2021) and Napoleon (2023).

Superhero
A costume that looks fantastic on the pages of a comic book can be the most challenging of all to reproduce in 3D. It's an opportunity to really push the boundaries of materials and technologies to stay as close to the source material as possible, while making the costume practical and comfortable to wear. Examples of complete builds include Wolverine from Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), Wonder Woman (2017) and Moon Knight (2022).

Stunt / Functional
Costumes need to deliver whatever the story demands. Some speciality functional versions require electronic features that can be triggered on cue and photographed up close, while adapted stunt versions of costumes can be submerged, flown and withstand stuntwork - all while keeping performers safe. Work has included Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025).
