Tomb Raider II The Cradle of Life
FBFX contributed to both the costume and set construction departments
on this movie. Various designs of African tribal jewellery which
would have otherwise been impossible to acquire were produced
and replicated in volume for the costume department. These delicate
and detailed pieces of jewellery were in complete contrast to
the unique revolving set which formed part of the films 'Cradle
of Life' cave system. This massive set which was able to rotate
through 360° had walls made from polystyrene which had to be coated
to provide a fireproof, hard rock like surface which could be
walked on. The best answer for this challenge was for FBFX to
apply a class 1 fire retardant form of the polyurethane to the
surface of the carved polystyrene, which meant that the entire
Spray System rig had to be taken on set.
