Gladiator
In Ridley Scotts' epic, Gladiator, we
worked closely with both the Wardrobe and Art departments, creating
over 700 suits of armour and two large action vehicles. Working
with the wardrobe team we created suits of armour for several
of the films main characters including the Emperor Commodus (played
by Joaquin Phoenix) and the Gladiator 'Tiger'. Along with these
principle suits we made the costumes for several legions of Roman
and German soldiers, each with their own design of armour. A separate
team also worked on two large army wagons, with the emphasis on
scale and realism. To make the vehicles as realistic as possible,
large authentic timbers were used in combination with forged iron
fixings, keeping any modern fixings to an absolute minimum.
