For this production we made a variety of action props, including an exact replica of an American civil war period naval gun. The cannon was created using blueprints drawn up from historical reference material. The final prop incorporated a remotely operated recoil mechanism and a chamber for detonating pyrotechnics. Other props made for the film included diving helmets and ray guns which were carefully weighted so as not to affect the buoyancy of the divers performing with them.
